Banjo and Kazooie are back! Nintendo announced on Friday that Banjo-Tooie, the beloved sequel to Banjo-Kazooie, will join the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack lineup on October 25th. Get ready to revisit Spiral Mountain and beyond in this classic N64 adventure.

The announcement trailer showcases familiar gameplay, suggesting a faithful port to the Switch. However, a welcome addition is a new widescreen mode, enhancing the experience on larger screens. This allows players to take in more of the vibrant environments and detailed character models.

Banjo-Tooie, originally released in 2000, expands upon its predecessor in several key ways. Fans can expect more intricate puzzles, improved graphics, expansive worlds to explore, and engaging multiplayer modes. The original Banjo-Kazooie, already available on the service, paved the way for this much-anticipated sequel.

This release is particularly noteworthy as it represents one of the last collaborations between Rare and Nintendo before Microsoft acquired Rare in 2002. Rare, with Nintendo’s backing, produced several iconic N64 titles, including GoldenEye 007. Both GoldenEye 007 and Banjo-Kazooie were previously added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, making Banjo-Tooie‘s arrival a natural progression.

The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack offers a growing library of N64 classics, including Mario Kart 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, several Mario Party titles, and more. The service also boasts a selection of Super NES, Game Boy, NES, Game Boy Advance, and Sega Genesis games. While the standard Nintendo Switch Online membership costs $20 annually, the Expansion Pack tier is priced at $50 per year.
