The electric vehicle (EV) market is becoming increasingly competitive, especially in the budget-friendly segment. This “small SUV” has generated significant buzz among prospective EV buyers, thanks to its appealing price point, impressive range, and sleek design. Upgrading from the base model to access features like all-wheel drive, extended range, or enhanced performance will naturally increase the overall cost. While the exact pricing for these upgrades remains undisclosed, it’s reasonable to expect a noticeable price jump. For comparison, upgrading from the base RWD Kia EV6 to the AWD model adds approximately $10,000.
Regarding the $7,500 federal tax credit, the EX30 will unfortunately be ineligible due to its manufacturing location in China. The Inflation Reduction Act mandates final assembly in North America for eligibility.
Volvo EX30 Release Date
While officially announced, the Volvo EX30 isn’t immediately available for purchase. However, prospective buyers in the U.S. can secure a reservation with a refundable $500 deposit. Deliveries are slated to commence in the summer of 2024, with vehicle configuration options becoming available in the fall of 2023. A Cross Country edition of the EX30 is also planned, with an anticipated release towards the end of 2024.

A fourth model, the EX30 Cross Country, adds rugged features like skid plates and unique badging, and will likely be equipped with the dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain.
Exterior color options include Vapour Grey, Onyx Black, Moss Yellow, Crystal White, and Cloud Blue. Interior choices comprise Breeze, Mist, Pine, and Indigo.
