As Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered approaches its release, acquiring the original Complete Edition is becoming increasingly challenging. The game has begun disappearing from several digital PC platforms.

The delisting started with the Epic Games Store earlier this week, as noted by several users on ResetEra. While the store page remains accessible, the purchase option is now unavailable. Interestingly, there’s no direct link to the Remastered version from the original’s page. However, the Remastered edition is available for pre-order through the Epic Games Store search function.

Initially, the Complete Edition remained available on Steam and GOG. However, as of recently, purchasing the standalone Complete Edition on Steam is no longer possible. The only option now is a bundled pre-purchase, including both the Complete Edition and the Remastered upgrade, priced at $50. While the Remastered version can be purchased separately, obtaining the Complete Edition requires buying the $50 bundle.

Currently, GOG still offers the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition for $50, maintaining its DRM-free status. Additionally, third-party key resellers like CDKeys also have codes available.

These actions suggest a strategic move by PlayStation to encourage players towards the Remastered edition. This strategy extends to console players as well, with the PlayStation Store price for the original game reportedly doubling from $20 to $40 without any official announcement or comment. This price hike likely aims to steer players away from the older version and incentivize them to purchase the Remastered edition.

The Remastered version primarily focuses on visual and performance enhancements, including PlayStation 5 specific updates. Furthermore, developer Guerrilla Games and support studio Nixxes have added approximately 10 hours of additional dialogue and new motion capture animations.
