7 Minutes in Hell, a new multiplayer horror game inspired by titles like Lethal Company, has launched on Steam. Developed by Gaggle Studios, the creators of the popular social deduction game Goose Goose Duck, 7 Minutes in Hell offers a blend of creepy atmosphere and humorous gameplay perfect for the Halloween season.

This new title takes cues from Lethal Company, much like Goose Goose Duck drew inspiration from Among Us. In 7 Minutes in Hell, players participate in a titular game show where they must navigate spooky environments, collect money and items, locate an exit, and escape—all within a seven-minute time limit.

Herbert Chan, Games Director for 7 Minutes in Hell, discussed how the game differentiates itself from similar titles. “We’re huge fans of the genre, and 7 Minutes in Hell shares much of the same DNA,” Chan told MaagX. “Cooperative horror games offer a fun and silly experience with friends, punctuated by moments of intense terror. We’ll be delivering that familiar mix, but one of the new features that sets it apart is the campy in-game host who provides live narration and commentary on player actions to a fictional online audience.” Future plans include Twitch integration and other live-streaming platform support, allowing viewers to vote and influence gameplay, adding an unpredictable and interactive element.

Early access gameplay reveals a satisfying loop. Each successful run allows for progress snowballing, providing more items, sponsors, and money based on retrieved collectibles. While multiplayer testing wasn’t available for this preview, the proximity chat setup promises memorable moments where communication can be abruptly severed. The possibility of players abandoning their teammates for solo escapes adds another layer of potential hilarity.

7 Minutes in Hell is available now on Steam Early Access. Gaggle Studios has a roadmap outlining planned updates through January 2025, including new enemies, items, interactables, arenas, and mod support.
