Locating the Six Buddha’s Eyeballs
All six Buddha’s Eyeballs are found within the Fright Cliff area of Chapter 2: Yellow Wind Ridge. To reach this area, follow these steps:
- Starting from the Village Entrance shrine in Sandgate Village, proceed right and open the yard gate.
- Defeat the Second Rat Prince boss to unlock the Valley of Despair shrine.
- Instead of entering the tunnel near the shrine, cross the bridge on the opposite side of the plateau.
- Continue along the path until you reach Fright Cliff and the Squall Hideout shrine.
Finding Buddha’s Eyeball #1
The first eyeball is conveniently located near the Squall Hideout shrine. Simply turn back from the shrine to spot the Buddha statue head by the road. You’ll know you’re near a Buddha head when you hear chanting.
Locating Buddha’s Eyeballs #2 and #3
The next two eyeballs are also nearby. From the Squall Hideout shrine, follow the ridge to the right to find one statue head. The other is located on a wooden platform across the ridge, guarded by several rat enemies.

Facing the Stone Vanguard
Before using the Buddha’s Eyeballs, you must defeat the Stone Vanguard boss. Located in a large clearing to the left of the Rockrest Flat shrine, this miniboss has slow but powerful attacks. Watch out for its leaping crash and rock-toss abilities, as well as the exploding mobs it summons. Defeating the Stone Vanguard rewards you with a Mind Core for stat boosts and the Sternness of Stone key item.

Unleashing the Secret Boss: Shigandang
Near the Stone Vanguard arena entrance, you’ll find a large rock formation with etched faces. Interact with it after collecting all six Buddha’s Eyeballs to trigger a cutscene and summon the secret boss, Shigandang. This golem is a formidable opponent with faster attacks than the Stone Vanguard. Defeating Shigandang grants you the Heart of Stone crafting material for the Cloud-Patterned Stone Staff, the Skandha of Feeling for unlocking another secret boss later in the game, and the “Om Mani Padme Hum” achievement.
