Two classic real-time strategy (RTS) games, StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft 2: Campaign Collection, are joining Xbox Game Pass. Announced by Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer during the Tokyo Game Show 2024, both titles will be available on PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate starting November 5th.

This addition provides Game Pass subscribers access to the single-player campaigns of both games. While StarCraft and StarCraft 2 multiplayer modes remain free-to-play through Battle.net with a Classic account, this release caters to players interested in experiencing the rich storylines and missions. StarCraft: Remastered boasts visual and audio enhancements, including 4K and widescreen support, breathing new life into the original game. Meanwhile, the StarCraft 2: Campaign Collection offers over 70 missions from Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, and subsequent expansions. Both releases also retain their multiplayer functionalities for those looking to test their strategic skills online.
StarCraft 2: Campaign Collection typically costs $40 on Battle.net, while StarCraft: Remastered is priced at $15. This inclusion in Game Pass offers substantial value for subscribers. It’s worth noting that the StarCraft: Cartooned bundles will not be available on Game Pass.

Since its debut in 1998 and the release of StarCraft 2 in 2010, the StarCraft series has significantly impacted the RTS genre, esports, and the growth of live streaming. It continues to captivate a dedicated and active community always welcoming new players. Xbox highlighted this legacy in a recent blog post.
While the announcement brings exciting news for StarCraft fans, it’s important to note there’s no news regarding a potential StarCraft 3.
