Apple is reportedly developing a more conversational version of Siri, aiming to rival advanced AI assistants like ChatGPT. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently highlighted Apple’s efforts to integrate sophisticated large language models (LLMs) into Siri, promising more natural and dynamic interactions. This enhanced Siri is expected to be available across iPhones, iPads, and Macs via updates to iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16, respectively.
A Long-Awaited Upgrade
While the development is underway, a public launch isn’t expected until early 2026. Although Apple might tease these advancements at WWDC 2025, widespread availability seems further off. This extended timeline, while potentially frustrating for some, suggests Apple’s commitment to delivering a truly enhanced user experience, addressing past criticisms of Siri lagging behind competitors.

Siri has already seen improvements through Apple Intelligence, boosting contextual awareness and facilitating more natural conversations. However, the most significant changes are still under development.
Apple Intelligence: Paving the Way
As an early and ongoing beta tester for Apple Intelligence, I see value in allowing Apple the necessary development time. While a 16-18 month wait might seem long, it could ultimately result in a far superior digital assistant.
Apple Intelligence, announced at WWDC earlier this year, leverages on-device processing for privacy protection while assisting with various tasks. It enhances writing by suggesting tone and style adjustments, summarizes emails and messages, and improves Siri’s language comprehension. Additionally, it enables unwanted object removal from photos and helps manage schedules and notifications.
A Gradual Rollout
Despite its announcement months ago, the initial phase of Apple Intelligence only reached the public in October. Further components are anticipated before the end of 2024 and into 2025. This staggered release strategy signifies Apple’s focus on refining each feature before broader deployment.
