The PlayStation 4 Complete Edition of Horizon Zero Dawn has seen a significant price increase on the PlayStation Store, jumping from $20 to $40. This effectively doubles the price of the original game, a move that coincides with the upcoming release of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.
This price hike was first reported by Video Games Chronicle and corroborated by price-tracking websites like PSDeals.net and PSPrices.com. The new $40 price tag represents the highest cost for the game since 2018, second only to its original $60 launch price. While physical copies of the PS4 Complete Edition might still be found at lower prices through third-party retailers like Amazon, the listed price generally seems to reflect the new $40 mark.

Although PlayStation hasn’t officially addressed this price increase, it’s speculated that the move is intended to steer players towards the upcoming remastered version. Current owners of Horizon Zero Dawn are offered a $10 upgrade path to the remastered edition on both PS5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
This marks the second instance this month where PlayStation has quietly adjusted pricing. Earlier in September, the DualSense controller saw a $5 price increase across various retailers, including PlayStation Direct. This applied to all DualSense models except for the premium DualSense Edge.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered was unveiled during PlayStation’s September State of Play. Scheduled for an October 31 release, the remaster includes The Frozen Wilds DLC and a range of enhancements. These upgrades encompass PS5-specific 3D audio, DualSense features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, and PS5 Pro support. Furthermore, the remaster boasts re-recorded motion capture, new dialogue, and visual improvements designed to align it with the quality of its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West.
