Fallout 76 players have much to anticipate in 2025, including the highly requested addition of playable Ghouls. While Ghouls are typically adversaries in the Fallout universe, with a few notable NPC exceptions, their playable debut in Fallout 76 marks a significant milestone. However, Bethesda has even more in store for the game beyond this exciting development. In a recent “thank you” letter to the community, the studio outlined some key features arriving in 2025, one of which is the surprisingly overdue addition of fishing.
Fishing, a classic activity in open-world games brimming with activities like Fallout 76, has been a curious omission for six years. That changes in 2025, with fishing integrated into the game’s questing system. Players will embark on their angling adventures guided by an in-universe NPC.
“Players will encounter a mysterious fisherman who has seemingly set up camp to share their passion for fishing,” the preview explained. “This enigmatic merchant will provide players with the necessary equipment to catch various aquatic creatures throughout Appalachia. Get those hooks ready! We’ll be feasting soon!”
Given the importance of Perk Cards and equipment in Fallout 76, it’s likely that fishing-related perks and gear will be introduced. Fishing-themed events are also a possibility. Regardless, Bethesda confirmed the return of several popular events in 2025, including Mischief Night, Fasnacht, Mothman Equinox, and Meat Week.

These features encompass the first half of 2025, with more unannounced content planned for later in the year. Bethesda hinted at further developments, promising more exciting news in the latter half of 2025.
“We’re also dedicated to enhancing the core game experience, including performance, visuals, and gameplay improvements. Additionally, the workshop C.A.M.P. build menu will receive a complete overhaul for improved navigation,” Bethesda stated. “Stay tuned for more exciting announcements later in 2025.”
Bethesda’s commitment to long-term support for Fallout 76 continues alongside their work on other projects, including the recently released Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the highly anticipated The Elder Scrolls 6, and the upcoming Doom: The Dark Ages slated for release in 2025.
