The highly anticipated Spider-Man skins from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse are finally swinging into Fortnite, but not all fans are thrilled. While Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2099 skins released earlier this year were well-received, the upcoming Peter B. Parker skin is causing controversy. Leaks revealed the designs for Spider-Man Noir, Peter B. Parker, and Spider-Punk, set to hit the Item Shop soon. While the Noir and Punk skins look promising, Peter B. Parker’s design has sparked significant backlash.

Fortnite insider @ShiinaBR recently showcased the Across the Spider-Verse skins. Generally, fans are happy with how closely the skins resemble their movie counterparts. However, the Peter B. Parker skin, featuring his distinctive pink robe over his Spider-Man suit, has drawn considerable criticism from a large portion of the Fortnite community.

The main issue is the lack of alternate styles for the Peter B. Parker skin. Players are disappointed that they can’t remove the pink robe, equip his Spider-Man mask, or choose any of his other iconic looks from Into the Spider-Verse. This has led to widespread frustration, particularly considering the long-standing demand for a classic Spider-Man skin in the Item Shop.

This frustration is amplified by the fact that Fortnite players have been requesting a standard Spider-Man skin for years. The only classic Spider-Man skin available was part of the Chapter 3 Season 1 Battle Pass and remains unavailable for individual purchase. Many hoped this Peter B. Parker skin would fill that void, but the unremovable pink robe dashes those hopes.

On Reddit, user JJGG_ expressed their disappointment, stating, “So much potential wasted, that design is horrible. What was going through Epic’s mind? Players who buy it will only see a random character in a pink robe. Can we do something to get him his suit? […] This is very sad and disappointing.” Another user, Falcond0rf, added, “I love the other two skins but not gonna lie the bathrobe being the only style is really disappointing. I have classic Spider-Man and it’s my most used skin but a classic Peter B. would easily dethrone it for me.”

As of now, Epic Games hasn’t addressed these complaints. The Across the Spider-Verse skins are scheduled to launch in the Item Shop on December 6th. While there’s no guarantee, Epic has demonstrated a willingness to listen to feedback and adjust cosmetics based on player concerns. Fans remain hopeful that Epic will consider the criticism and potentially update the Peter B. Parker skin in the future.
