PlayStation Plus subscribers have a limited time to grab a popular Bethesda title for free: Ghostwire: Tokyo. This offer is available to all PS5 PlayStation Plus members, regardless of their subscription tier (Essential, Extra, or Premium). Unfortunately, PS4 players are excluded as the game was never released on that platform.
This freebie is part of the November PlayStation Plus monthly games lineup, alongside Death Note: Killer Within and Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged. However, this offer expires on December 3rd, when the December PlayStation Plus games become available.
Developed by Tango Gameworks, the studio behind The Evil Within series and the more recent hit Hi-Fi Rush, Ghostwire: Tokyo originally launched in 2022 for PC and PS5. While Tango Gameworks was still under the Bethesda umbrella at the time of release, the game didn’t make its way to Xbox consoles until the following year.
Critical reception for Ghostwire: Tokyo has been generally positive, with Metacritic scores ranging from 75 to 82 depending on the platform. As of September 2023, the game boasts over six million players. Given its inclusion in both PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass, the number of outright purchases remains unclear.
The game plunges players into a supernatural Tokyo, where a malevolent occultist has caused the city’s population to vanish. Players partner with a powerful spectral entity, mastering a range of supernatural abilities to confront the unknown and unravel the mystery behind the disappearances. The official game description invites players to “Face the unknown, uncover the truth and save the city.”
Players can expect a playtime of roughly 10 to 25 hours depending on their engagement with side content. A completionist run, aiming for 100%, will require approximately 40 hours.
So, if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber with a PS5, don’t miss out on this opportunity to experience Ghostwire: Tokyo for free before the offer vanishes on December 3rd.
