The graphics card market is buzzing with anticipation as Nvidia, AMD, and Intel prepare to unveil their latest offerings. Leaks suggest the Nvidia RTX 5080 could launch as early as January 21st, potentially giving Nvidia a significant edge in the early 2025 GPU market, especially with AMD’s anticipated limited availability. With CES 2025 just around the corner, PC enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting official announcements.
CES 2025 promises a flurry of activity, with Nvidia’s RTX 50-series, AMD’s RX 9000 series, and an addition to Intel’s Battlemage lineup all expected. While Intel’s January 16th release date is confirmed, a now-deleted post by Hong Kong media outlet HKEPC hinted at a January 21st launch for the RTX 5080. Though the post was quickly removed, it was preserved by VideoCardz, fueling speculation. This timeline aligns with previous leaks suggesting the RTX 5080 would be the first of the 50-series to arrive, making a launch two weeks after CES plausible.
Nvidia RTX 5080
A January 21st launch for the RTX 5080 suggests the RTX 5090 might follow on January 28th, although some speculate a later release, potentially in mid-February. The RTX 5070 and a possible Ti variant are expected even later, perhaps in late February. Current rumors indicate three to four new Nvidia GPUs within two months of the initial announcement.
AMD’s rollout is expected to be slower. According to VideoCardz, information from Board Channels citing “AMD’s internal department” indicates limited initial availability for the RX 9000 series, reminiscent of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D launch. While the RX 9070 XT is rumored for a late January release, wider availability isn’t expected until February.
Leaks so far point to a Navi 48-based RX 9070 XT and a Navi 44-based RX 9060 (XT). The latter, along with a potential non-XT RX 9070, are projected for a March release.
This staggered release schedule could give Nvidia a significant advantage in the early 2025 GPU market. With the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 potentially facing no immediate competition from AMD and limited availability of AMD’s offerings, Nvidia is poised to capture significant attention. CES 2025 will provide more clarity, and the coming weeks promise exciting developments for the GPU landscape.
