Triangle Strategy, the tactical RPG exclusive to the Nintendo Switch, is once again available for purchase on the eShop after being mysteriously delisted on December 1st, 2024. This left fans unable to buy the digital version for over a month, with no explanation from Nintendo or Square Enix. The game has now reappeared as suddenly as it vanished.

2022 was a strong year for the Nintendo Switch, boasting titles like Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Splatoon 3, Bayonetta 3, Persona 5 Royal, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, NieR Automata, and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Amidst this impressive lineup, Triangle Strategy often gets overlooked.

This tactical RPG, developed by Square Enix, draws inspiration from genre classics like Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem. Despite a respectable Metacritic score of 83, its niche genre may have contributed to its lower profile. While also available on PC and some VR devices, it didn’t achieve widespread recognition on those platforms either.

The reason for its temporary removal from the eShop remains unknown. However, the issue is now resolved, and players can once again purchase the game.

Triangle Strategy is priced at $59.99 and requires 7 GB of storage space. A standard playthrough lasts between 30 and 50 hours, depending on how much optional content is explored. Completionists can expect to invest around 100 hours to see everything the game has to offer.

The official eShop description summarizes the game: “Command a group of warriors as Serenoa, heir of House Wolffort, in a tangled plot where your decisions make all the difference and key choices will influence the story. When faced with truly momentous decisions, your advisors will weigh in by casting their votes on the Scales of Conviction. Persuade them before their vote is cast to help forge your own path ahead. Remember, your allies and decisions can change the fate of Norzelia itself.”

The return of Triangle Strategy to the eShop is welcome news for tactical RPG fans and anyone who missed out on this hidden gem during its initial release.
