Indiana Jones fans are in for a treat with the surprise re-release of “Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings” on January 21st, 2025. This follows a resurgence of the Indiana Jones franchise with the 2023 film, “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” and the 2024 video game, “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.” While the film’s reception was mixed, “The Great Circle” game has been favorably compared to classic titles like “Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis” and “LEGO Indiana Jones.”
This latest addition to the Indiana Jones gaming lineup takes fans back to 2009, the year the original “Staff of Kings” game launched. The re-release will be available for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers as part of their membership.
The game will be accessible through the PlayStation Plus Premium service for PS4 and PS5. It is the PlayStation 2 version of the game that’s being re-released, joining the PS1 classic “Medievil II” in the January 21st lineup of new PlayStation Plus Premium games.
Originally developed by Artificial Mind & Movement (now Behaviour Interactive, the creators of Dead by Daylight), “Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings” was released in 2009 for Nintendo DS, PS2, PSP, and Wii. The game received a lukewarm reception at the time, with Metacritic scores ranging from 50 to 63 across different platforms.

While available for free with a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, the game is also expected to be available for standalone purchase on the PlayStation Store for PS4 and PS5 starting January 21st. This is the typical practice for PS Plus Premium releases, though there are occasional exceptions where games remain exclusive to subscribers.
The re-released PS2 classic features several enhancements, including up-rendering for improved visuals, rewind functionality, quick save options, and custom video filters.
