Truecaller, a leading spam call and SMS identification app, has significantly upgraded its iPhone functionality with the release of iOS 18.2 and later. This update brings highly anticipated features like real-time caller ID and enhanced spam blocking, putting iPhones on par with the Android experience.

Real-Time Caller ID and Enhanced Spam Blocking

This latest update introduces automatic spam call blocking, a crucial feature for any call-filtering app. It leverages Truecaller’s extensive global database and AI-powered identification engine to proactively block unwanted calls. Additionally, users can now search through their recent call history, accessing records for up to 2,000 previous numbers directly within the iPhone app. This enhanced search functionality helps users easily identify and manage unknown callers. Truecaller aims to ensure no call goes unidentified, provided they have information about the number.

Leveraging Apple’s Live Caller ID Lookup

These new features are made possible by Apple’s Live Caller ID Lookup framework. This API allows apps like Truecaller to provide real-time caller identification while maintaining user privacy through advanced encryption.

Truecaller CEO’s Statement

Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller, expressed enthusiasm for the update: “We are excited to bring the full power of Truecaller to iPhone. We see tremendous potential and growth in our iPhone user base and parity with Truecaller’s Android experience has been top of their wishlist. This update does that and more while preserving privacy for all calling activity.”

Subscription Options and Availability

Truecaller offers both free and premium subscriptions. The free version includes ads, while the premium version offers an ad-free experience and additional features. Premium subscriptions cost $80 annually or $10 monthly via in-app purchases. A family plan covering up to four members is also available for $100 per year or $15 per month. New users can try the premium version free for 30 days.
