These badges aren’t entirely new to the Google Play Store; similar badges exist for identifying government apps. However, the VPN verification badge carries specific requirements designed to deter malicious actors. Apps must have over 10,000 installs, more than 250 reviews, and a presence on the Google Play Store for at least 90 days.

Google intends to promote verified VPNs, offering a significant advantage to those that qualify. Several VPNs, including NordVPN, hide.me, and Aloha Browser, already meet these criteria.
