Starting your journey as Henry of Skalitz in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 can be tough. Money is tight, your reputation is in tatters, and merchants aren’t exactly welcoming. Equipping yourself to face the dangers ahead requires Groschen, but how do you earn them when you’re practically starting from scratch? This guide will provide some helpful tips to boost your early-game finances in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
Troskowitz: Your First Source of Income
Troskowitz, the first village you can explore, serves as your primary hub for the initial part of the game. While small, it holds the key to your early financial success. The carpenter’s house, located directly across from the tavern, is your target. Why? The front door is sometimes left unlocked, and even if it’s not, you can climb the log piles to reach a second-floor bedroom window.
Robbing the Carpenter and His Father
Here’s the plan:
- Wait until around 10:00 PM, when most villagers are asleep. Use the in-game “Wait” function to speed up time.
- Equip your torch to avoid suspicion from patrolling guards.
- Approach the carpenter’s yard stealthily, avoiding the guards’ watchful eyes. Crouching helps.
- Enter through the unlocked front door or climb the log piles to the second-floor window.
- Inside, stay crouched and approach the sleeping carpenter’s father.
- Initiate the robbery by pressing and holding the “Rob” button. The displayed number indicates the time you have for the pickpocketing minigame.
- Release the “Rob” button when the interface turns red, signaling potential detection.
- In the minigame wheel, click on the blocked-off circles representing lootable items. A timer will be ticking down.
- Click the door icon to “escape” the minigame before the timer runs out.
- Repeat the process to acquire all items, especially the keys. Failing to escape before the timer ends will wake the victim and alert the guards.
- Use the stolen keys to unlock the chest beside the carpenter’s father and take everything inside.
- Head downstairs and repeat the process with the sleeping carpenter and his bedside chest.
- Before leaving, loot the containers and baskets for food.
- Exit the yard undetected by guards. Being seen increases your chances of being accused of theft the following morning.
Selling Your Ill-Gotten Gains
Your loot should include weapons (Hunting Sword, Billhook, Glaive, Dogwood Village Bow), clothing, sketches, materials, and even unique dice for the Farkle minigame. Sell these items to the Troskowitz trader. Be aware, he’ll offer lower prices for stolen goods.
For better prices, travel north to Tachov or west to Zhelejov. Merchants there won’t recognize the items as stolen. However, these locations are further away and carry the risk of bandit encounters during fast travel.
Food and Shelter
You can repeat the carpenter robbery and trader sale cycle, even with the reduced prices. It takes a few in-game days for the chests to be restocked and the trader’s Groschen to replenish.
- The stolen food provides sustenance.
- You can’t stay at the tavern due to the tavern lady’s anger. However, sleep in Roman’s house, next to the tailor’s shop. Climb the ladder to the second-floor opening. The bed provides rest but doesn’t allow saving. Use the “Save & Quit” option to avoid wasting Savior Schnapps.
With these tips, you’ll be well on your way to accumulating a healthy supply of Groschen in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. For further guidance, consult our beginner’s guide, reputation guide, and stolen/damaged items guide.
