The Nvidia RTX 5070, initially slated for a February release, may now launch in early March, according to industry analyst MEGAsizeGPU (@Zed__Wang on X). This potential delay could be a strategic move to counter AMD’s upcoming Radeon RX 9070.
Announced at CES 2025, the RTX 5070 is currently the most budget-friendly option in the RTX 50-series lineup, pending the release of the RTX 5060 series. Powered by the GB205 GPU, it boasts 48 Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs), 6,144 CUDA cores, and 12GB of GDDR7 memory. Utilizing a 192-bit memory interface, it delivers a bandwidth of 672GB/s.
Nvidia has set the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) at $549, a $50 reduction compared to the RTX 4070. However, consumers should anticipate higher prices from board partners, and the potential for inflated prices due to scalpers and retailer markups remains a concern.

AMD Radeon RX 9000 Series Competition
Coincidentally, AMD is also preparing to launch its Radeon RX 9000 series, including the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT. While full specifications for the RDNA 4-based GPUs remain undisclosed, rumors suggest the RX 9070 will feature 16GB of GDDR6 memory, targeting the 4K gaming market.
This larger VRAM capacity could give AMD an edge over the RTX 5070’s 12GB, especially in VRAM-intensive games at higher resolutions. While Nvidia is developing Neural Texture Compression (NTC) to reduce texture memory requirements, its widespread adoption is still uncertain.
Potential Pricing Battle
A recent report by IT Home suggests the RX 9070 XT could be priced at $599, significantly undercutting the RTX 5070 Ti’s price. Consequently, the standard RX 9070 is expected to be even more affordable, potentially competing directly with the RTX 5070. This could lead to a pricing battle between Nvidia and AMD, each vying for a dominant position in the mid-range GPU market.
