Apple's Foldable iPhone: A Premium Price for a Premium Device? Apple's Foldable iPhone: A Premium Price for a Premium Device?

Apple’s foray into the foldable smartphone market has been a topic of much speculation. Recent predictions from industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggest a potentially hefty price tag for this much-anticipated device, ranging from $2,000 to $2,500. This surpasses even Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6, currently priced at $1,900.

Kuo attributes this premium pricing to several factors. Firstly, Apple’s brand image necessitates a higher price point, especially if the foldable iPhone boasts superior hardware. Secondly, Kuo believes demand will remain strong despite the cost.

Several rumored features might justify the high price. Apple is reportedly pursuing a creaseless design, a challenge that has plagued foldable devices. They are also aiming for a premium build, potentially utilizing a titanium alloy chassis and a stainless steel-titanium composite for internal components, similar to the iPhone 16 Pro models.

Furthermore, the foldable iPhone is expected to be incredibly thin, measuring between 4.5-4.8mm unfolded, rivaling the Honor Magic V3 and Oppo’s latest foldable offering. Apple is also rumored to be incorporating the same high-density battery technology planned for the iPhone 17 Air.

However, these details are not finalized. Kuo indicates that final specifications will be determined in Q2 2025, with mass production commencing in Q4 2026. The foldable iPhone is projected to launch in the second half of 2027.
