The latest Android 15 update seems to have unintentionally altered the haptic feedback on some Google Pixel phones, particularly the Pixel 7 and Pixel 8 models. Users are reporting stronger, and in some cases, less desirable vibrations, especially when typing. This issue doesn’t appear to affect the Pixel 9 or other Android devices.
The change in haptic feedback has sparked discussion among Pixel owners on Reddit. Many users describe the new vibrations as more intense than before. While some appreciate the stronger feedback, others find it unpleasant.

The complaints aren’t solely about the intensity of the vibrations. Some users report a qualitative change, describing the feedback as “tinny,” “hollow,” “cheap,” and “floaty.” These descriptions contrast sharply with the generally positive reception of Google’s haptic feedback in previous Pixel models. The altered haptics are being compared to those found in less expensive, lower-quality devices.
Interestingly, a small number of Pixel 7 users have reported the opposite effect, experiencing weaker haptic feedback after the update. This inconsistency further suggests that the change may be a bug rather than a deliberate feature.
Adding to the confusion, Google’s official release notes for the March update make no mention of any haptic feedback modifications. This silence lends further credence to the theory that the altered vibrations are unintentional. Given the largely negative response, it’s likely that Google will address this issue in a future update.
In the meantime, Pixel owners who are unhappy with the new haptic feedback might want to hold off on installing future updates until Google officially acknowledges and resolves the issue.
