Recent certifications from China’s 3C authority suggest that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 will maintain the same 25W wired charging speed as their predecessors. This news comes as a disappointment to some, especially considering the faster 45W charging capabilities of the Galaxy S25 Plus and S25 Ultra. Both foldable phones will likely utilize the Samsung EP-TA800 charger, which has a 25W output limit.
This decision is particularly noteworthy given the premium positioning and pricing expected for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 upon their release later this year. While these foldable devices are anticipated to boast various improvements, the charging speed seemingly won’t be one of them.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumored to feature a significant camera upgrade with a 200MP primary sensor. Larger displays and a less noticeable screen crease are also expected, contributing to a more refined overall design. Furthermore, the Z Fold 7 is anticipated to be thinner than its predecessor.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7, on the other hand, will reportedly sport a larger cover display. Both foldable devices are also projected to include upgraded chipsets, enhancing performance and efficiency.
Despite these anticipated improvements, significant changes are not expected beyond these updates. Industry whispers suggest that Samsung is reserving more substantial upgrades for the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip lines for 2026.
Samsung is likely to unveil its latest foldable devices at a Galaxy Unpacked event this summer. This event may also showcase the new Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, with release dates expected to follow shortly thereafter.
