The Tesla Supercharger network continues its expansion as more automakers adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector. Honda and its luxury brand, Acura, are the latest to join the growing list, allowing their electric vehicle (EV) owners to access Tesla’s extensive network of over 20,000 Superchargers across North America.
Starting in June 2025, drivers of the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX will be able to utilize Tesla Superchargers. However, since these EVs currently use the Combined Charging System 1 (CCS1) connector, an adapter will be required to connect to the NACS-equipped Superchargers. Honda has confirmed that owners will need to purchase these adapters separately, with pricing details expected closer to the June launch.

Expanding the NACS Ecosystem
This partnership places Honda alongside other major automakers like BMW, Ford, GM, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Lucid, Rivian, and Volvo, who have already embraced the Tesla Supercharger network. Unlike some manufacturers who initially offered free adapters, such as Ford, Honda will require customers to purchase them from dealerships. Ford’s current adapter price of $200 offers a potential benchmark for Honda’s pricing strategy.

Adapter Limitations and Alternative Solutions
It’s important to note that these adapters are exclusively designed for Tesla’s DC Superchargers and are not compatible with home charging solutions or destination chargers. However, the increasing availability of Tesla’s “Magic Dock” adapters at select Supercharger stations offers an alternative. Magic Dock integrates CCS1 compatibility directly into the Supercharger, eliminating the need for a separate adapter for CCS1-equipped vehicles. Resources like PlugShare can help locate stations equipped with Magic Dock.
Honda’s Transition to NACS
Beyond accessing the Supercharger network, Honda has also committed to integrating NACS connectors into its future EV models. Prototypes of the Honda 0, showcased at CES 2025, featured the NACS port. The 2026 Acura RSX is anticipated to be the first production model from Honda to incorporate the NACS connector as standard.
The Future of EV Charging
Honda’s adoption of the NACS standard marks a significant step towards a more unified and accessible EV charging infrastructure in North America. This move promises a more convenient charging experience for Honda and Acura EV owners, further accelerating the transition to electric mobility.
