The much-delayed One UI 7 update for the Samsung Galaxy S24 series has reportedly restarted in South Korea, signaling a potential global rollout soon. This comes after the initial release was abruptly halted due to a critical locking and unlocking issue.

Samsung Galaxy S24 owners have faced considerable frustration with the One UI 7 update. Originally launched with the Galaxy S25 in January, the update’s arrival for the S24 series was already delayed. Last week’s initial rollout was then quickly suspended after the discovery of a serious lock/unlock bug.
Recent reports from reliable sources like Tarun Vats on X suggest that a new version of One UI 7 is now being distributed in South Korea. While Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed the restart, this development offers a glimmer of hope for S24 users worldwide. The company’s official newsroom post about the April 7th global launch remains unchanged despite the initial pause.
Prior to the reported issue, MaagX successfully installed the One UI 7 update on a Galaxy S24 Ultra without experiencing any lock/unlock problems. The update itself brings a host of new features and design improvements, making it a worthwhile upgrade despite the bumpy rollout.
For those who managed to download the initial One UI 7 release, it’s recommended to check for further updates. While there haven’t been any subsequent updates available at the time of writing, a revised version addressing the previous issues is expected soon. To manually check for updates, navigate to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Follow the on-screen prompts if an update is available.
If no update is found, further patience will be required, unfortunately. Galaxy S24 owners are becoming accustomed to this waiting game, but hopefully, the wait for a stable One UI 7 experience is nearing its end.
