Anker PowerCore 10000 Recall: What You Need to Know
This Anker power bank recall concerns approximately 1.158 million PowerCore 10000 units. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports 19 incidents of these lithium-ion battery devices overheating, resulting in fires, explosions, two minor burn injuries, and over $60,000 in property damage according to the CPSC. Affected units sold for about $27 via Anker, Amazon, Newegg, and eBay from June 2016 to December 2022.
If you own an Anker PowerCore 10000, check its model number, typically on the bottom. This recall only affects model A1263. If yours matches, stop use immediately to prevent hazards.
For a free replacement, don’t return the recalled bank. Follow instructions on Anker’s official recall website. Submit a photo showing model/serial numbers, your name, date, and “recalled” written on it. A receipt is requested but not mandatory.
Crucially, do not discard the faulty power bank in household trash due to lithium-ion battery fire risks. Contact your local household hazardous waste (HHW) center for safe disposal. Anker requires proof of safe disposal for replacement.
