Microsoft has provided an update on its AI-powered Recall feature for Windows 11, emphasizing security enhancements following feedback from the IT community. Originally announced at Build 2024, Recall aims to give PCs “photographic memory,” but concerns about security and control have led to significant revisions in its rollout.
Enhanced Security Measures for Recall
Microsoft has reiterated its commitment to security, stating that Recall “will ship with meaningful security enhancements,” including additional data encryption and Windows Hello integration. These measures aim to address initial concerns and position Recall as a secure experience within IT environments. However, whether these enhancements will fully alleviate security concerns remains to be seen.
Delayed Rollout and IT Control
The rollout of Recall has been delayed multiple times, now targeting a December release for testing. This cautious approach allows Microsoft to refine the feature and prioritize security.
