Dragon Age: The Veilguard offers a plethora of quests and activities that can easily distract you from the main storyline. While each offers its own rewards, not all contribute to achieving the game’s true ending. This guide provides the essential steps to unlock the secret ending without spoiling the narrative.
Completing the true ending hinges on two key requirements that must be fulfilled before reaching the point of no return, signaled by the main story mission “When Plans Align.”
Regrets of the Dread Wolf and Solas’s Memories
The first crucial step is completing the sidequest “Regrets of the Dread Wolf.” This quest involves collecting six memories of Solas, a key figure in the game’s lore, during his rebellion. Two memories are automatically acquired during the main storyline, while the remaining four are missable and require specific actions.
Locating the Memories in the Crossroads
All four missable memories are located within the Crossroads region and are marked on your map once the “Regrets of the Dread Wolf” quest is active. However, access to some of these memories is tied to story progression, so completing the quest immediately upon reaching the Crossroads is not possible. Three memories are locked behind gates that only open after defeating specific Champions in other regions of Thedas. These Champions are associated with the subquests “Gate of Lost Ages,” “Gate of Faded Flories,” and “Gate of Deep Sorrows.”
Gaining Mythal’s Light
After collecting all six of Solas’s memories, you’ll be directed to speak with a fragment of Mythral in the Crossroads. To avoid a challenging battle and obtain Mythal’s Light, select the following dialogue options:
- I want your help
- We must stop the blight
- You stood against it
- We must stop the gods
- They wronged you
- We are worthy
- Building a safe place
The Mysterious Circles of Thedas
The next stage involves finding three Mysterious Circles hidden throughout Thedas.
The first circle is located in Arlathan Forest, specifically at the Waterfront Glades. Reaching this circle requires solving a puzzle by manipulating beams of light to form a bridge to a central island.

Be prepared for a miniboss encounter upon reaching the island. After defeating the miniboss, interact with the Mysterious Circle near the pillar to trigger a dialogue sequence.
The second Mysterious Circle is found within the Necropolis Halls. However, access to this location is contingent upon completing both Emmrich’s first companion quest, “Restless Spirits,” and the sidequest “Pinnacle of Its Kind.” The circle is situated on the left side of the chamber where you previously fought the dragon known as The Formless One.

The final Mysterious Circle is located back in the Crossroads and is accessible after completing “The Heart of Corruption” quest. Follow the quest waypoints and defeat the necessary bosses. Upon completion, return to the arena where you fought the Revenant Dragon. The circle can be found by ascending a path on the left side of the arena.

Witnessing the Secret Ending
With all three Mysterious Circles activated and the prerequisite quests completed, simply finish the game or replay the ending sequence. You will be rewarded with an additional, secret scene after the credits roll, revealing the true ending of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
