Marvel Rivals has surpassed 10 million players in just over a week since its launch. To celebrate this milestone, developer NetEase Games is giving away a free in-game spray featuring Galacta, the daughter of Galactus, to all players across all platforms.
While the final design is still being finalized, NetEase confirmed the gift via the game’s official X/Twitter account, assuring players they’ll receive the spray automatically upon logging in once it’s ready. The announcement encouraged players to log in and claim their free reward.
Although a relatively minor character in the broader Marvel universe, Galacta has gained prominence as the narrator of Marvel Rivals and features heavily in its promotional materials. This celebratory spray further cements her connection to the game. The game’s success might even lead to increased appearances for Galacta in other media, such as comics, animated series, or even the MCU.
Alongside the free spray, NetEase continues to introduce paid content. New costumes for Thor and Star-Lord were added on December 13th. Thor’s new skin replicates his appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder, offering a faithful recreation for fans of MCU-inspired cosmetics. Star-Lord’s new costume, however, draws inspiration from the comics, specifically his Master of the Sun redesign by artist Juann Cabal during Al Ewing’s Guardians of the Galaxy run.
Keeping Players Engaged with Fresh Content
Games like Marvel Rivals rely on consistent content updates to maintain player engagement. The free spray and new costumes, coupled with the upcoming January season, indicate a commitment to providing ongoing content and a promising future for the game. This steady stream of additions is crucial for keeping the player base active and invested.
Looking Ahead
The success of Marvel Rivals in its initial week demonstrates significant potential. The combination of free rewards, premium cosmetic options, and upcoming seasonal content suggests a strategy focused on both player appreciation and long-term engagement.
