Tesla has issued two new recalls for its Cybertruck electric pickup truck, addressing problems with the windshield wiper and a piece of plastic trim. These are the third and fourth recalls for the Cybertruck since its launch in November.
The first recall targets the windshield wiper motor controller. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that the controller “may stop functioning due to electrical overstress,” potentially leaving drivers with impaired visibility. This recall affects 11,688 Cybertrucks. Tesla will replace the faulty wiper motor free of charge and has already begun contacting affected owners. Reports of this issue surfaced earlier this month, with some owners describing harrowing experiences driving in heavy rain with a non-functional wiper.
The second recall addresses a piece of plastic trim along the edge of the truck bed. According to the NHTSA, this trim may detach from the vehicle and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of accidents for other drivers. This recall affects 11,383 Cybertrucks. Tesla will either replace or rework the trim to ensure secure attachment, also free of charge.
These recalls follow two previous ones. In April, Tesla recalled Cybertrucks due to a loose accelerator pedal cover that could potentially become stuck. In January, a software recall addressed the size of visual warning indicators on the instrument panel, affecting several million Tesla vehicles, including the Cybertruck.
