This guide will walk you through the steps required to unlock the Warden Vault. The puzzle involves solving three distinct riddles within the castle, each requiring a keen eye and a bit of ingenuity. Let’s dive in and uncover the treasures that await.
Locating and Initiating The Warden Vault Quest

To embark on this quest, you’ll need access to the Rivain Coast and Taash must be a member of your party. Locate the imposing castle on the eastern side of the Rivain Coast, identifiable by its gated entrance. Bypass the gate by heading right through an open archway. You’ll encounter a pot that Taash can ignite with their fire breath, revealing a new path. Proceed south through another archway and climb the wooden boards to ascend to the upper level. Follow this path until you reach a doorway on your right.

Inside, locate and pull the lever on the left. This action will open the main castle entrance. Lower the ladder and descend into the main hall. On the western side of the hall, stairs lead to a basement blocked by a crystal. Have Taash melt the crystal to gain access. Inside, you’ll find three shields adorning the wall and the locked Warden Vault door. You’ve officially begun The Warden Vault side quest and are ready to tackle the three lock puzzles.

Solving the Torch Puzzle
The three torches and lever puzzle within the Rivain Coast castle in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
The first puzzle is close by. Return to the main hall and climb back up the ladder. Near the lever you initially pulled, you’ll find a gated archway and another lever with three unlit torches above it. Before interacting with this lever, return outside to the area where you originally entered. Jump down to the ground level and locate a small entrance blocked by a wooden wheelbarrow and crates.

The next puzzle involves a ghostly chase. Jump down to the main hall and proceed south to its end. Clear any enemies and enter the door on your right. Interact with the skeleton adorned with green butterflies to summon a ghost, which will vanish through a wall.
Return to the main hall, climb the ladder, and descend the stairs on your left. You’ll find the ghost hovering over another skeleton. Touch the skeleton to prompt the ghost to move. Follow it down the next set of stairs, continue north, and turn right into the small archway. Touch the ghost again to send it back to the main hall.

The Elusive Wisp

The final puzzle is located in the southern part of the castle, marked by a waypoint on your map. Clear out the enemies in the large back courtyard. Near your initial entry point to the courtyard, look up to find a pot that Taash can explode. Climb the revealed ladder and collect the wisp floating in the back corner.
Quickly carry the wisp to the next location, as it follows you for a limited time. Descend the ladder, retrace your steps back through the courtyard entrance, and immediately turn left into a room with training dummies.

Have Taash melt the crystal at the back of the room and proceed through the passage until you reach the area behind the broken wall. Place the wisp here, and it will possess a skeleton, opening the final door. Inside, you’ll find a chest, a Memento, and the final lever to unlock the Warden Vault.
