Krafton’s highly anticipated life simulation game, inZOI, has announced a delay in its early access release. Originally slated for a 2024 launch, the hyper-realistic life sim will now enter early access on March 28, 2025.

Producer and director Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim addressed the community in an open letter on the inZOI Discord server, explaining the decision. The delay aims to provide “the best possible start” for the game, allowing the developers more time to refine the experience. This announcement comes as a surprise following assurances from Krafton to PC Gamer just last month that the game was still on track for a 2024 release.

Kim cited valuable feedback from the inZOI: Character Studio demo and various playtests as key factors in the decision. The demo, a brief showcase of the game’s highly detailed character creator, generated significant buzz on Steam earlier this year. Players were captivated by the ability to meticulously recreate both fictional characters and real-life individuals.

Refining the inZOI Experience

The team acknowledges the need for additional development time to deliver “the most complete experience possible.” Kim drew a parallel between raising a child and developing inZOI, emphasizing the importance of nurturing the game during its early access phase. This extended development period represents their commitment to building a solid foundation for inZOI.

inZOI’s Potential and Competition

inZOI has garnered considerable attention as a potential competitor to The Sims. This anticipation is further amplified by the recent cancellation of Paradox Interactive’s life simulation title, Life by You, even before reaching early access. The game’s popularity is evident in its current position as the 12th most wishlisted game on Steam.

Looking Ahead to 2025

While the delay may disappoint eager fans, the developers’ commitment to delivering a polished experience is encouraging. The additional development time will hopefully allow inZOI to reach its full potential and solidify its place in the life simulation genre. The new release date of March 28, 2025, marks a new chapter in the inZOI journey, and the community eagerly awaits the opportunity to experience this promising life sim.
