GeForce Now, Nvidia’s cloud gaming service, is receiving significant updates, including a revamped Performance tier and the introduction of monthly playtime limits. These changes aim to enhance the user experience while managing the service’s growing demand.
The former Priority membership is now the “Performance” tier, offering improved streaming capabilities at the same price. Subscribers can now enjoy games at up to 1440p resolution and ultrawide formats, with persistent settings across sessions. This upgrade bridges the gap between Performance and the premium Ultimate tier, which features 4K streaming and high refresh rates powered by GeForce RTX 4080 servers.
Nvidia GeForce Now Performance Tier Upgrade
A significant change coming in 2025 is the implementation of a 100-hour monthly playtime cap for both Performance and Ultimate members. Nvidia states in their blog post that this limit is intended to optimize their cloud infrastructure and will only impact a small portion of users. Data suggests over 94% of players currently fall well within this limit. For added flexibility, unused hours can roll over to the next month, up to a maximum of 15 hours. Users exceeding the cap can purchase additional playtime in 15-hour increments: $2.99 for Performance and $5.99 for Ultimate members.
Nvidia GeForce Now Playtime Statistics
As a thank you to loyal subscribers, Nvidia is offering unlimited playtime throughout 2025 (until January 2026) for members who maintain an active subscription by December 31, 2024. This provides existing users uninterrupted access for a full year before the new playtime limits come into effect.
Nvidia is also offering a limited-time 25% discount on 24-hour Day Passes, allowing potential subscribers to experience the upgraded Performance and Ultimate tiers. Performance Day Passes are priced at $2.99, and Ultimate Day Passes are $5.99. A new benefit allows users who upgrade to a monthly subscription within 48 hours of their Day Pass expiring to apply the Day Pass cost towards their new membership.
Boasting a library of over 2,000 games with new titles added weekly, GeForce Now offers one of the most comprehensive cloud gaming catalogs available. These updates reflect Nvidia’s commitment to delivering a high-quality cloud gaming experience while effectively managing its infrastructure to accommodate the evolving needs of its user base.
