Cyberpunk 2077 has partnered with Fortnite, bringing Johnny Silverhand and the female V as playable skins, alongside various in-game items. While many fans are excited about this crossover, some are questioning the absence of the male V character. Players can choose either male or female V in Cyberpunk 2077, and the male version has been prominent in promotional materials. Adding to the confusion, Fortnite often allows players to toggle between different styles for licensed cosmetic skins, but this option isn’t available for the Cyberpunk 2077 set.

Cyberpunk 2077 fans can rest assured, there’s no hidden agenda behind the decision. Patrick K. Mills, who worked on Cyberpunk 2077, clarified on Twitter/X that the female V was selected simply due to personal preference, and Johnny Silverhand already filled the masculine character role. Mills’ tweet aimed to address the confusion and frustration surrounding male V’s exclusion.

The online discussion surrounding the single V skin was apparently significant enough to prompt Mills to address the issue. This choice might have exacerbated existing sensitivities surrounding female character representation, particularly following recent controversies related to Ciri in The Witcher 4 and the protagonist in Naughty Dog’s upcoming Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. It remains to be seen whether Mills’ clarification will quell the debate, but fans can still acquire the Cyberpunk 2077 skins in Fortnite.

Both the Johnny Silverhand and V skins are priced at 1,500 V-Bucks. Each pack includes a corresponding back bling: Johnny’s Duffle Bag and V’s Flathead Back Bling, respectively. Alternatively, players can purchase the Night City Residents Bundle for 2,800 V-Bucks, which includes all of the following:

  • Johnny Silverhand skin
  • Johnny’s Duffle Bag Back Bling
  • V skin
  • Flathead Back Bling
  • Silverhand’s Katana Pickaxe (800 V-Bucks)
  • Johnny Silverhand’s Guitar (800 V-Bucks)
  • Mantis Blades Pickaxe (800 V-Bucks)
  • Night City Lights Wrap (500 V-Bucks)

Fortnite is renowned for its crossovers, offering skins from a vast array of IPs and even real-world celebrities. Keanu Reeves features both as Johnny Silverhand and as John Wick from a previous collaboration. Other recent additions include Mariah Carey and Snoop Dogg, alongside gaming icons like Master Chief, providing players with an extensive selection of cosmetic choices.

For those disappointed by male V’s absence, there might still be hope. In his tweet, Mills stated, “Both masc and femme v are great but we weren’t gonna do both in this collab so a choice had to be made.” The phrase “this collab” suggests the possibility of a future Cyberpunk 2077 and Fortnite crossover. While this remains speculation, the precedent of multiple collaborations with other franchises offers a glimmer of hope for male V’s eventual arrival in Fortnite.
