The electric SUV market is heating up, and Jeep is throwing its hat into the ring with the Wagoneer S. Announced in 2022 and slated for release later this year, this all-electric SUV aims to compete with high-end models like the Rivian R1S. While not focusing on affordability, the Wagoneer S promises performance and luxury. Let’s dive into everything we know about Jeep’s first foray into the EV world.
Design and Dimensions
The Wagoneer S boasts a sleek, modern design reminiscent of a Range Rover, a departure from the boxier aesthetic of the standard Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. Distinctive features include slim LED light bars front and rear, a two-tone color scheme, and a prominent rear spoiler.

Dimensionally, the Wagoneer S measures 192.4 inches long, 74.8 inches wide, and 64.8 inches tall, with a 113-inch wheelbase. This makes it slightly smaller than the Rivian R1S, which measures 201 inches long, 82 inches wide, and 77 inches tall. Currently, only the Launch Edition trim has been announced.

Interior and Technology
The Wagoneer S’s interior exudes premium quality, with images showcasing various color options, including vibrant red seat coverings. A standout feature is the expansive 45-inch digital display spanning the dashboard.

This display is segmented into a primary infotainment screen and a dedicated passenger display, positioned above a separate control panel for climate and other vehicle functions. CarPlay and Android Auto integration is confirmed, running on Stellantis’ Uconnect operating system. Real-world performance of this software remains to be seen. While offering only two rows of seating, the Wagoneer S promises ample passenger space.
Performance and Powertrain
The Wagoneer S is designed for performance, featuring dual electric motors—one for each axle—delivering a combined 600 horsepower. Jeep claims a blistering 0-60 mph time of 3.4 seconds.
Range, Charging, and Battery
Jeep estimates a range of “over 300 miles” for the Wagoneer S. However, official EPA range figures are still pending.

Built on a 400-volt architecture, the Wagoneer S’s charging speed won’t match the fastest options available, such as those offered by the Kia EV9. Nevertheless, Jeep states a 20-80% charge time of 23 minutes, indicating respectable charging capabilities. The maximum charging speed remains undisclosed.
Pricing and Availability
Reservations for the Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition are currently open, with deliveries expected to commence later in 2024. The Launch Edition is priced at $71,995. Information on potential lower-cost trims is yet to be released.
Looking Ahead
While much is promising about the Jeep Wagoneer S, some key questions remain. We anticipate an official EPA range confirmation exceeding 300 miles. The potential for more affordable trims, perhaps with adjusted performance and design features, would broaden the SUV’s appeal. An off-road-focused variant and a refined software experience are also on our wish list.
