Lamborghini has unveiled the Lanzador, a fully electric concept car that offers a preview of the Italian automaker’s first EV, slated for production in 2028. This groundbreaking vehicle signifies a departure from Lamborghini’s traditional offerings, not only in its powertrain but also in its unique body style and focus on sustainability.
A New Breed of Lamborghini

Unlike Lamborghini’s current lineup of two-seat mid-engined supercars and the Urus SUV, the Lanzador introduces a “2+2” grand touring configuration with occasional-use rear seats. This harkens back to classic Lamborghini models like the Espada, Urraco, and Jarama, but with a modern twist. The Lanzador incorporates a raised ride height reminiscent of the Huracán Sterrato, enhancing practicality for everyday driving scenarios. Folding rear seats offer added cargo space, a feature not typically associated with high-performance vehicles.
Electrifying Performance and Control
The Lanzador boasts a formidable dual-motor all-wheel drive system, generating over one megawatt (1,341 horsepower). To harness this immense power, Lamborghini has implemented advanced features such as multiple drive modes, individual wheel speed control for precise power distribution, and active aerodynamic elements that optimize cooling, efficiency, and downforce.
Luxury and Innovation Redefined

Moving beyond pure performance, the Lanzador prioritizes luxury with an active air suspension that adapts to road conditions and driving style, adjustable via steering wheel controls. Rear-axle steering contributes to enhanced agility and maneuverability. Inside, a distinctive wedge separates the driver and front passenger, each equipped with individual screens. A central control hub houses infotainment and climate functions, though its design might not appeal to all.

Lamborghini has emphasized sustainable materials throughout the Lanzador’s interior. Merino wool, stitched with recycled nylon thread, complements recycled plastics and 3D-printed seat foam made from recycled fibers. Regenerated carbon fiber trim further underscores this commitment. Even the leather upholstery is tanned using water reclaimed from olive oil production, minimizing environmental impact.
The Future of Lamborghini

Set to enter production later this decade as Lamborghini’s fourth model line, the Lanzador marks a pivotal step toward an electrified future. Following the launch of the Revuelto plug-in hybrid, Lamborghini plans to hybridize its remaining lineup by the end of 2024, including the Huracán and Urus. While an all-electric SUV remains a possibility, the brand’s iconic supercars are likely to retain their combustion engines for the foreseeable future.
