The long-awaited Tesla Cybertruck finally reached its first customers in late November 2023. Since then, Tesla has been showcasing the unique electric vehicle, aiming to bolster pre-orders. One of the latest reveals focuses on the Cybertruck’s Basecamp tent attachment, a $2,975 add-on that mirrors the truck’s angular design.

A recent video depicts a Cybertruck traversing a striking, Iceland-like landscape. Upon reaching a remote location, a family disembarks and sets up the Basecamp tent. While the video portrays a seamless setup, real-world practicality remains to be seen. Tesla claims inflation takes “minutes” without structural poles.

Following a lakeside picnic and fishing, the family retreats to the truck bed, sheltered by the tent. It appears two adults and a small child are the maximum occupancy. The next day, they relocate to a condo, with mother and daughter enjoying stargazing from within the tent.

While the family in the video enjoyed ideal weather, the Basecamp tent includes a weather-resistant outer shell and extendable awning for added protection in harsher conditions.

The Cybertruck, Tesla’s first pickup, starts at $60,990, significantly exceeding Musk’s initial estimates. Reports indicate nearly 1.9 million pre-orders before the first deliveries. Initially, pre-orders required a $100 refundable deposit, recently increased to $250.

With increasing competition in the electric pickup market and the broader EV sector, the Cybertruck’s success is crucial for Tesla. However, with mass production not anticipated until 2025, assessing its true popularity will take time.
