Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny isn’t just about cracking whips and dodging boulders; it’s also about deciphering ancient riddles. Early in the game, while searching for the Stolen Cat Mummy in the Vatican, you’ll encounter the Sacred Wounds puzzle, a challenge that demands keen observation and a touch of logic. This guide will walk you through the solution, illuminating the path forward.

The Sacred Wounds puzzle begins in a chamber within the Tower of Nicholas V, accessed after pouring wine into a bowl to reveal a hidden passage. Once inside, the real challenge unfolds. The puzzle centers around a mural of Jesus, several wine cups, and numbered levers corresponding to his wounds.
First, photograph the Jesus mural with your camera. Capturing images of all murals provides valuable Adventure Points and potential clues. Then, pour wine into the bowl before the Jesus mural. This action reveals numbered levers on each of his hands and feet, and one on his chest. Your objective is to determine the correct order in which to pull these levers.
Turn right from the Jesus mural to find the Walking on Water mural, marked by a golden ring around Jesus’ right foot. Pour wine into the accompanying bowl to uncover the Roman numeral III (3). Return to the main mural and set the lever by Jesus’ right foot (your left) to 3.
Next, locate the Holy Chalice mural. An Antique Bust obscures the clue; move it to access the bowl. Pouring wine reveals the number 2, associated with Jesus’ left hand. Return to the Jesus mural and set the corresponding lever to 2.
Proceed to the next room to examine the following mural. The door locks behind you, but a side passage provides an escape route. Observe the circle highlighting Jesus’ right hand and pour wine to reveal another 2. Exit through the side passage, featuring a statue of a soldier holding a spear and a gold circle behind it. Aligning the spear’s tip with the circle when viewed head-on reveals a wine bowl. Pouring wine into this bowl reveals the number 3. You’ll also find a weapon and a cracked wall to break through, returning you to the main puzzle room.
The final mural lies behind a gated area. A crawl space beside the gate provides access. Once inside, pull the chain to open the gate for easier access later. This mural highlights Jesus’ left foot. Pouring wine into the bowl reveals the final number: 4.
