Creative director Alistair Hope, who also directed the original game, revealed the news on X (formerly Twitter) as part of a letter commemorating Alien: Isolation’s 10th anniversary. This milestone provided the perfect opportunity to announce the long-awaited sequel. “Today, I’m delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development,” Hope stated. While no further details were shared, he assured fans that the team is eager to reveal more “when we’re ready.”

One factor contributing to the sequel’s delay was Creative Assembly’s involvement with Hyenas, a high-budget, first-person extraction shooter. Despite even reaching the closed beta testing phase, Sega labeled the project “challenging” just a month before its cancellation in 2023, citing “structural reforms” following an economic downturn in Europe.
