Nintendo is transitioning its free-to-play mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, to a paid version called Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete. This new iteration will preserve much of players’ existing progress and introduce new features. The free version will be removed from app stores on November 29th, 2024, with Complete launching on December 3rd, 2024.
Existing players can transfer their data to Complete for a one-time fee, currently offered at an introductory price of $10. This price will increase to $20 on January 30th, 2025. Preregistration is open on the Google Play Store for Android and preorders are available on the Apple App Store for iOS.
Key Features and Data Transfer
Complete allows players to retain significant progress from the free-to-play version. Transferable data includes player level, Bells, animal friendships, owned items (campsites and warehouses), and campsite, cabin, and camper layouts.

Unfortunately, Leaf Tickets, maps, and gifts won’t be transferred. The Pocket Camp Club subscription service will also end, with new subscriptions already closed. Direct multiplayer will be replaced by Camper Cards, allowing players to share outfits and animals via QR codes. A new location called Whistle Pass will facilitate interactions and even KK Slider concerts. Friend lists, however, will transfer to Complete.
New Content and Future Updates
Beyond preserving existing player data, Complete introduces new content and features. Leaf Tokens will serve as a new in-game currency, and elements from the Pocket Camp Club subscription will be integrated. Nintendo has also planned new events and fortune cookies through September 2025. More details on these new features can be found here.
The data transfer process is straightforward, requiring players to link their Pocket Camp account with their Nintendo account. Upon opening Complete, players will be prompted to transfer their data. The deadline for data transfer is June 1st, 2025.
Conclusion
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete offers a way for players to continue enjoying the game with their existing progress, albeit with some changes. The transition to a paid model introduces new features and ensures the game’s longevity. While the loss of direct multiplayer and certain in-game items might disappoint some, the addition of Camper Cards and Whistle Pass aims to provide alternative social interactions. With a deadline for data transfer, players are encouraged to act quickly to secure their progress in the new Complete experience.
