Astro Bot Rescue Mission fans rejoice! Team Asobi, the developers behind the beloved VR platformer, have released a series of free speedrun levels, adding a new dimension of challenge and replayability to the game. The first level, “Building Speed,” launched on October 17th, with subsequent levels rolling out weekly.

New Speedrun Levels Test Platforming Prowess

Each speedrun level offers a unique platforming challenge, pushing players to hone their skills and compete for the top spot on the online leaderboards. “Building Speed” sees players navigating a bustling cityscape with the help of Barkster, a trusty bulldog companion who grants the ability to dash and smash through obstacles. Players will need to master wall-running, crate-smashing, and deftly avoid swinging cranes to achieve the highest score.

The following release schedule outlines the upcoming speedrun levels:

  • October 17: Building Speed
  • October 24: Let it Slide
  • October 31: Spring-loaded Run
  • November 7: Helium Heights

Each level promises a unique set of obstacles and mechanics, ensuring a fresh and engaging experience for players.

PlayStation Cameos Add to the Fun

In addition to the speedrun levels, the update introduces 10 new cameo appearances from various PlayStation characters. Team Asobi has a history of hiding PlayStation character bots within the game, and this update continues the tradition. Two new cameos will be revealed in each speedrun level. While the full roster remains a secret, a previous teaser confirmed the inclusion of Eve from Stellar Blade and a Helldiver from Helldivers 2.

This free update comes in response to overwhelming fan feedback requesting more Astro Bot content. Studio Director Nicolas Doucet acknowledged the community’s enthusiasm, stating that the team was “busily beavering away” to deliver these new surprises. The addition of speedrun levels and cameos provides a significant boost to the game’s replayability and offers a fresh challenge for veteran players.
