The charming platformer secured the coveted Platinum trophy for Best PS5 Game, cementing its place as a fan favorite. This victory follows a string of accolades, including four wins at The Game Awards 2024, where it notably claimed the prestigious Game of the Year title.
Launched in early September, Astro Bot has captivated players with its nostalgic charm and innovative gameplay. Serving as the third installment in the Astro Bot series and a direct sequel to the PS5 tech demo Astro’s Playroom, this title marks the first full-fledged game from developer Team ASOBI. Players take on the role of Astro, a lovable robot on a quest to rescue his Bot companions and repair his PlayStation 5 spaceship. The game’s engaging platforming mechanics and delightful character cameos, featuring collectible VIP Bots, have quickly established it as a standout title of 2024. The PlayStation Blog Awards, determined entirely by fan votes, saw Astro Bot triumph over strong competition in the Best PS5 Game category. GameScience’s Black Myth: Wukong secured the Gold Trophy, while Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and SHIFT UP’s Stellar Blade earned Silver and Bronze, respectively. Notably, all contenders, except for Black Myth: Wukong which also launched on PC, were PlayStation exclusives.
Astro Bot‘s success extended beyond the top prize, with five additional Platinum trophies. The game also garnered Gold Trophies for Best Soundtrack and Best Graphical Showcase, further highlighting its technical and artistic achievements.
