Netflix’s Castlevania: Nocturne is returning with a vengeance. The highly anticipated second season, based on the popular Konami video game series, promises a thrilling continuation of the Belmont clan’s fight against the forces of darkness. The latest trailer highlights the intense action and high stakes awaiting fans when the season premieres on January 16th.
The original Castlevania animated series, which ran for four successful seasons from 2017 to 2021, garnered widespread praise from both critics and viewers. Nocturne, a sequel set 300 years later, debuted in 2023 and quickly captured the hearts of fans eager to follow Richter Belmont’s adventures.
Alucard Returns to Battle in Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2
Fans rejoiced at Alucard’s appearance in the Season 1 finale. Recognizable to longtime fans as Dracula’s son from the original series (and as a key character from 1989’s Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse), Alucard returns in Nocturne sporting a look faithful to his video game counterpart.
The new trailer showcases Alucard fighting alongside a Belmont once more, leading a French musket brigade in a surprising turn of events. This season, they face a new vampiric adversary: Tera, Maria’s mother, who was transformed into a vampire at the end of Season 1.
Richter Belmont and Allies Confront the Vampire Messiah
Season 2 sees Richter, Maria, Annette, and Alucard united against the Vampire Messiah, who succeeded in plunging the world into eternal night. With the support of Alucard and seasoned Belmont clan member Juste Belmont, the heroes confront the Vampire Messiah and her legions of vampire followers.
The Cast of Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2
The main cast from Season 1 returns, including Edward Bluemel as Richter, Pixie Davies as Maria, and Thuso Mbedu as Annette. Iain Glen reprises his role as Juste Belmont, while James Callis joins the cast as the voice of Alucard.
Familiar faces also return on the side of darkness: Sydney James Harcourt as Edouard, Franka Potente as the Vampire Messiah (Erzsbet Bathory), and Zahn McClarnon as Orlox, the vampire responsible for Richter’s mother’s death.
