Dead by Daylight Mobile is officially ending its run on iOS and Android devices. While the main PC and console versions of the asymmetrical horror game will continue, mobile players will soon have to find alternative ways to experience the Entity’s realm. The shutdown will occur in two phases. First, on January 16, 2025, the game will be removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, preventing new downloads and in-app purchases. Existing players can continue using their purchased in-game currency until the servers officially shut down on March 20, 2025.

Transitioning to PC and Console
Developer Behaviour Interactive is encouraging mobile players to transition to the PC and console versions of Dead by Daylight. A welcome package is available for players making the switch, containing 500,000 Bloodpoints and 2,250 Iridescent Shards. Additional rewards, including Auric Cells, Iridescent Shards, and Bloodpoints, will be awarded based on in-game spending and XP earned, with local currencies converted to USD. Details about these rewards can be found on the official Dead by Daylight Mobile shutdown FAQ page. Players with existing accounts on both mobile and PC/console platforms are still eligible for the welcome package.
Speculation and Reasons for Shutdown
The decision to shut down the mobile version, made by NetEase, has led to speculation regarding the publisher’s shift in focus towards other projects, such as the successful free-to-play Marvel Rivals. However, with NetEase’s extensive portfolio of games and ongoing development, this theory remains unconfirmed. The shutdown may simply be a result of resource allocation towards new ventures. The lack of recent developer updates, missed deadlines, and the handling of in-game events in Dead by Daylight Mobile had already led many players to anticipate this outcome.
Cosmetic Transfers and Licensing
A key concern among players is the transferability of cosmetic items. Cosmetics from collaborations like Attack on Titan are unlikely to transfer due to licensing agreements. However, content from collaborations like Tomb Raider and Castlevania, already available in the main game, should be transferable.

Looking Ahead
While the shutdown is still a few months away, players are encouraged to transition to the PC or console version of Dead by Daylight to continue their horror adventures. This will allow for a smoother transition and uninterrupted gameplay once the mobile servers go offline.
