Football Manager 25, the latest installment in the acclaimed football management simulation series, is set to launch on November 26th. Developed by Sports Interactive and published by Sega Europe, FM25 will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, Mac, and Xbox Game Pass. The game will also be accessible on mobile exclusively through Netflix, requiring a subscription. Nintendo Switch users can experience the game with Football Manager 25 Touch, releasing slightly later on December 3rd.
While the recently released announcement trailer doesn’t reveal gameplay details, the official Football Manager website showcases a roadmap outlining upcoming announcements leading up to the game’s release. One of the most anticipated features is the inclusion of women’s football leagues, a first for the series. This addition, originally slated for 2021, was delayed due to legal complexities as explained by studio director Miles Jacobson in a 2023 blog post. He emphasized the team’s commitment to delivering a high-quality representation of women’s football, facilitated by the new graphics engine.
Another significant change is the transition to the Unity engine for all platforms except mobile, promising enhanced visuals and more realistic player animations derived from real matches. This marks the studio’s first major engine upgrade since 2017. Further strengthening its ties with real-world football, FM25 introduces a partnership with the Premier League, featuring all 20 clubs.
Beyond the immediate release, Sports Interactive has ambitious long-term plans for the franchise. Jacobson highlighted FM25 as merely the beginning of the studio’s vision for the next two to three decades. This follows the conclusion of the previous era with Football Manager 24, lauded as the most comprehensive version of the series at the time.
The inclusion of women’s football in Football Manager 25 marks a significant milestone for the series, offering players a more inclusive and comprehensive management experience.
The partnership with the Premier League adds another layer of authenticity to Football Manager 25, bringing the excitement and prestige of England’s top-flight competition to the game.
Football Manager 25 will be available on a variety of platforms, ensuring accessibility for players across different devices. This multi-platform approach reflects the game’s growing reach and appeal to a broader audience.
