Forza Horizon 4, a beloved entry in the Xbox racing franchise, is facing delisting from digital storefronts. Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X owners have just 24 hours left to purchase the game digitally before it becomes unavailable. This impending removal, announced earlier this year, is due to licensing expirations, a common reason for game delistings.
Forza Horizon 4 launched in 2018 alongside titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, God of War, and Marvel’s Spider-Man. While Sea of Thieves ultimately became Xbox’s flagship title that year, Forza Horizon 4 garnered significant praise and established itself as a fan favorite. The open-world racing experience set in a vibrant rendition of Great Britain captivated players with its diverse landscapes, dynamic seasons, and extensive car roster.
The delisting, scheduled for December 15th, affects digital purchases on the Xbox Store, Steam, and access through Xbox Game Pass. All DLC for the game was removed earlier this year in anticipation of the full delisting.

While digital availability will cease, players who already own Forza Horizon 4 will retain access to the full game, including both offline and online features. Multiplayer functionality will also remain unaffected. Physical copies of the game will continue to function normally, including online features, but finding new copies might prove challenging given the game’s age.
Existing owners can continue to download and play Forza Horizon 4 without interruption, ensuring continued enjoyment of the racing experience. However, after the December 15th deadline, there will be no digital avenues to purchase the game. This means that anyone who hasn’t acquired it digitally before the deadline will have to resort to finding second-hand physical copies, which might become increasingly scarce and potentially expensive.
An official statement released earlier confirmed the delisting plans: “On December 15, Forza Horizon 4 will be delisted from stores and Xbox Game Pass. This means the game and its additional content will no longer be available for purchase. Players who already own the game and its content will be able to download and play it as normal, including its offline, online, and multiplayer features; physical copies of the game purchased after this date will also work and will be able to use online features.”
Developed by Playground Games and published by Xbox Game Studios, Forza Horizon 4 is the fourth installment in the Horizon series and the eleventh in the overall Forza franchise. It has since been succeeded by Forza Horizon 5 in 2021 and Forza Motorsport in 2023. Although initially released for Xbox One, the game is playable on Xbox Series X and S via backward compatibility and has received optimizations for enhanced performance on the newer consoles.
