The Nintendo Switch 2’s official reveal has ignited excitement among gamers worldwide. However, pre-announcement leaks prompted a strong reaction from renowned video game director Hideki Kamiya, known for his work on titles like Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Okami, and The Wonderful 101. Kamiya, channeling the spirit of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, issued a rather unique curse upon those responsible for the leaks.
Kamiya’s impassioned statement drew comparisons to the fate of Kars, the primary antagonist of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency. Kars, a powerful Pillar Man, met his demise after being launched into space by Joseph Joestar. Despite his immortality and enhanced abilities, Kars was ultimately unable to overcome the harsh conditions of space, drifting eternally as a petrified being.
Kamiya’s Curse: A Fate Worse Than Kars?
In a recent social media post, Kamiya expressed his frustration with the Switch 2 leaks, invoking Kars’s fate as a fitting punishment. “To everyone who leaked or was involved in leaking information about the Switch 2,” he wrote, “I hope you’re cursed for the rest of your lives so that every time you go home, there’s always sh** stuck to the soles of your shoes.” He further emphasized his point, stating, “Now that I’ve been able to truly enjoy the surprise of the Okami announcement together with all the users, I sincerely think this: may every last one of those leakers be cursed.”
Kamiya’s tirade continued, vividly describing his disdain for the leakers: “The sh***y leakers only act purely for their own pleasure and self-satisfaction. Not only are they not contributing to anyone’s benefit, but they’re causing all sorts of opportunity losses. They’re the worst scum, doing nothing to be proud of in the eyes of others. They might as well be covered head to toe in sh** and tossed out into space, beyond the atmosphere and then just stop thinking and wander forever.”
JoJo and the World of Video Games
The JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise boasts a rich history within the gaming world, with several fighting game adaptations. Notably, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven brought together characters from across the series’ generations. In Japan, the arcade game JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Last Survivor offers a battle royale experience featuring iconic heroes and villains. The possibility of a new JoJo title appearing on the Nintendo Switch 2 remains a topic of speculation among fans.
