The highly anticipated Marvel Rivals fighting game launches on December 6th, and the final character reveals have just dropped. A new launch trailer confirms Wolverine, Iron Fist, Black Widow, Cloak and Dagger, and Squirrel Girl will join the initial roster, bringing the total to 33 playable characters at launch. This exciting news comes just days before the game’s release, giving players a stacked lineup to explore.
While characters like Ultron were considered possibilities, fan favorites like Wolverine and Black Widow were almost guaranteed inclusions. Squirrel Girl’s presence was also highly suspected, with leaks all but confirming her arrival. Iron Fist, given his melee fighting style, seemed a natural fit for Marvel Rivals. However, the inclusion of Cloak and Dagger comes as a welcome surprise, rounding out the diverse roster.

The trailer showcases these new characters alongside familiar faces like Spider-Man, Hawkeye, and Captain America. Updated artwork provides a closer look at the full 33-character roster. Each character falls into one of three categories – Vanguard, Duelist, or Strategist – but their specific classifications remain to be seen once the official Marvel Rivals website is updated. Since these five new heroes were absent from previous playtests, players are eager to see how they perform against existing characters.

Beyond the character reveals, the trailer also teases a new Team-Up Ability. These special moves, previously demonstrated with Rocket and Groot, allow compatible characters to unleash powerful attacks when near each other. Hints suggested a particularly impressive Team-Up Ability involving one of the new characters, and the trailer seemingly confirms this to be a devastating combination attack with Hulk throwing Wolverine at opponents.
Marvel Rivals launches on December 6th. All 33 launch characters will be available to play immediately in the free-to-play game. Future seasons promise even more heroes to expand the already impressive roster.
