The highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 indie hit Moonlighter, Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, was revealed during the PC Gaming Show. Fans of the original’s unique blend of dungeon crawling and shopkeeping can look forward to a new adventure with familiar gameplay and exciting additions.
The original Moonlighter catapulted developer Digital Sun to recognition, leading to their work on titles like The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story and Cataclismo. Now, in partnership with publisher 11 bit Studios (known for Frostpunk 2 and the original Moonlighter), Digital Sun returns to their roots with this captivating sequel. Moonlighter 2 promises to continue the story of Will, the shopkeeper protagonist, while expanding upon the core gameplay.

A key change in Moonlighter 2 is the shift from pixel art to a vibrant 3D art style. The sequel also introduces a new setting: the village of Tresna, trapped within a mysterious dimension. Players will guide Will as he rebuilds his shop from scratch, venturing into the titular Endless Vaults to gather treasures for sale while searching for a way back home. The dungeon-crawling action and strategic shopkeeping elements of the original remain at the heart of the experience.
This sequel aims to deliver an enhanced version of the beloved Moonlighter formula. Digital Sun CEO Javier Gimenez emphasized the studio’s commitment to creating a game that not only improves upon the original but also infuses even more charm into every aspect of the experience.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2025. For more exciting announcements from the PC Gaming Show, be sure to check out the news surrounding the creator of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and their upcoming projects.
