Some PlayStation Plus subscribers haven’t received the same lineup of free games as others this January. While PlayStation Plus Essential, priced at $10 per month, typically offers three free games alongside online access, subscribers in Hong Kong received a different title than most. The standard January offerings included Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. However, Hong Kong subscribers found DEEEER Simulator: Your Average Everyday Deer Game in place of The Stanley Parable.
This substitution stems from The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe being unavailable on the Hong Kong PlayStation Store. While DEEEER Simulator might appeal to some, it’s generally considered a downgrade. The Stanley Parable boasts greater popularity, higher Metacritic scores, and award-winning status, unlike its replacement.

The reason for The Stanley Parable’s absence in Hong Kong remains unconfirmed, but speculation points to potential conflicts with themes and narrative elements that may not align with Chinese government regulations.
Regardless of the reason, DEEEER Simulator’s free download period mirrors that of The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, lasting until February 4th. Similar to all PS Plus monthly games, continued access requires an active PlayStation Plus subscription. Losing access due to a lapsed subscription can be remedied by renewing the service.
