The Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket app has received a new update introducing the Mythical Island booster pack. This expansion brings a wave of collectible cards, featuring Pokemon not found in the previous Genetic Apex set, such as Marshadow, Swirlix, and Flabebe. The update also includes new cards for Pokemon already present in Genetic Apex, like Pikachu, Weezing, and Ponyta. Furthermore, players can discover new Support Cards based on characters like Blue and Leaf, as well as new Item cards like the Pokemon Flute.
This Mythical Island set is smaller than the preceding Genetic Apex expansion. While Genetic Apex boasted 286 cards (226 normal and 60 secret), Mythical Island offers a more concise collection of 86 cards (68 normal and 18 secret). Unlike Genetic Apex, Mythical Island features a single pack type adorned with Mew. Players are prompted to update the Pokemon TCG Pocket app upon launch, gaining access to the Mythical Island booster pack immediately after installation. Beyond the new cards, the update also includes new missions, Rental Decks, a Mew-themed Emblem, and more.

Coinciding with this update is the Pokemon TCG Pocket Free Hourglass promotion. Players can claim 12 free Pack Hourglasses through a gift from the development team, located in the Gifts section. Additional sets of 12 Pack Hourglasses will be available on December 18th and 19th, effectively granting players a bonus pack each day.
While the Mythical Island set takes center stage, Genetic Apex booster packs remain available. Players can choose between both sets on the home screen, ensuring those still completing the Genetic Apex collection can continue to do so.
Future Expansions on the Horizon
Currently, there’s no official announcement regarding the next Pokemon TCG Pocket update. However, datamines suggest a new expansion might arrive as early as January. While this information is unconfirmed, it hints at exciting additions in the near future.
