The PlayStation 2 era boasted numerous iconic game trilogies, and one of the most beloved is finally making a full return to modern consoles. Long before lengthy development cycles became the norm, the PS2 hosted complete trilogies for franchises like Grand Theft Auto, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Prince of Persia, and Devil May Cry. Now, PlayStation fans can rejoice as the Sly Cooper trilogy completes its comeback on PS4 and PS5.
Sony recently announced that Sly 2: Band of Thieves and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves will join Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus on PS4 and PS5. Earlier this year, the release of the first Sly Cooper game on modern PlayStation hardware sparked excitement and speculation among fans about the sequels’ potential arrival.

Reliving the Heist: Sly 2 and Sly 3 Join the Party
The wait is over. Sly 2: Band of Thieves and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves are scheduled to launch on the PlayStation Store on December 10th. Following the model of other PS2 re-releases, both games will be available for individual purchase at $9.99. PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will also be able to download them at no extra cost as part of the “Classics” catalog.
Enhanced Features for Modern Consoles
While Sony hasn’t detailed specific upgrades, these versions of Sly 2 and Sly 3 will likely feature visual enhancements, rewind functionality, and quick save options, mirroring improvements seen in other PS2 re-releases. Trophy hunters can also anticipate new trophy lists for each game.
One Game Remains Elusive
With Sly 1, Sly 2, and Sly 3 available on PS5 and PS4, only Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, originally released on PS3, remains inaccessible on current-gen consoles. Sony’s ongoing challenge with PS3 backward compatibility suggests a native PS5 and PS4 release is unlikely. However, having the original Sucker Punch-developed trilogy readily available is a significant win for fans, making these classic titles more accessible than they have been in years.
